Entergy Arkansas Storm Update: Progressing Power Restoration (May 29, 2024)

Following the weekend’s heavy weather, Entergy Arkansas crews have been working nonstop to get affected customers’ electricity back. Approximately 2,536 people were still without power as of May 27 at 6:30 PM, a significant decrease from the peak of 22,700.

Power Restoration Work Is Ongoing

Since Friday night, Entergy workers have resolved over 44,000 customer outages, demonstrating their remarkable success in restoring electricity. But in other places, especially in the north of the state, restoration work might not begin until later today evening or even on Wednesday, May 29.

Emphasis on Suburban Areas

The storm’s strongest winds, lightning strikes, and verified tornadoes mostly affected rural regions. These places frequently have difficult terrain, demanding the use of specialized tools and extra staff. To meet these problems, Entergy has dispatched 965 workers, including scouts, contractors, environmental teams, and out-of-state support. To remove debris and repair electrical lines, crews are using track vehicles, bucket trucks, aerial saws, and bulldozers.

Stay informed and organized.

Before the power goes off, turn off gadgets and appliances to avoid power surges when it comes back on.

Watch out for candle and generator fire hazards.
